Hi Mark! Which of your characters did you have the most fun constructing? I feel like Jorg and Jalan both would have been fun for completely different reasons.

Mark Lawrence Well, I don't construct characters, I write them, and they construct themselves as we go. But I definitely had most fun with Jalan. Jorg was exciting to write, but Jalan made me laugh.

I've almost finished Prince of Thorns. I'm really enjoying it. Nice to have the main character not be your stereotypical hero. I've started picking up on real world references. I take it this is set on Earth, I assume in the middle ages but maybe not one place specifically. Sort of an alternate history type setting. Was this always the plan or did you consider creating your own world for the setting?
