John Addiego I thought this was a uniquely disturbing and effective detail. The implication to me was that Rosie died in bed next to Jake, the OD coming from Jamie's roofies mixed with alcohol and other drugs, and that Jake and Mama hid the body in cold storage. So Kate's dear, enigmatic boy was an accessory to the coverup and very corrupt morally, but she protected him by withholding this information.
Robert John, yes Jake was morally corrupt, etc. but that wasn't discussed so it's more of an editorial than an answer to the question.

Ayny I don't think Jake was there when Rosie died. It may have been him who carried Rosie to the cold storage though, that is whythere's vomit on the pants.
