Goodreads asked Paul Watson:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Paul Watson I force myself to write the first thing that comes into my head and keep going until I’ve written 1000 words a day or 2000 words on weekends.

I get the first draft done relatively quickly: under two months for Reflux. The downside is that I write a load of words I need to edit out. The first draft of Reflux was 100 000 words, and I threw almost 25 000 of them away when editing, especially near the start of the book when I didn’t know where I was heading.
