I would say that yes, you should read the Six of Crows duology before going into King of Scars, else you will encounter a major spoiler for Crooked Kingdom. So much of King of Scars is based on the aftermath of the events in
Ruin and Rising and Crooked Kingdom, that if you don't read the first trilogy and the other duology, you will be spoiled for both. Plus, SoC is where you are introduced to Nina (a main POV in KoS).
