While it's very much a feel-good book, it has a great deal of language, and there is inter-species sex. The physical relationships, what they mean to the characters, the questions - and answers - that arise from the book on the subject may be pretty confusing for a 10yo.

All that said, however, the sex is more implied than outright described, but the characters are not shy about gossiping about the subject.
