What inspired you to write novels about SAR?

April Henry Our friend's daughter was volunteering for Multnomah County Search and Rescue in 9th grade. I knew they found people lost in the wilderness, but when I learned they also did crime scene evidence searches for the police, I knew I HAD to write about them.
