How much outlining do you typically do? Reading your stories, and spotting all the threads and Easter eggs (or imagining them :P), it seems like you must do quite a bit of outlining.

Sorry for how long it's taken me to answer this question! I do outline quite a bit, yes--I think I'd be in serious trouble if I didn't. :D However, one of my mottos is never to let an outline get in the way of a good story, so I try to leave room for surprises in my outlines in order to avoid hampering my creativity.

At the end of “The Beast of Talesend” (Beaumont & Beasley book 1) you revealed the name of book 2 to be “The Stroke of Eleven”. However, that book actually ended up being published as book 3. So did you rearrange the order of the series from your original plan or did you specifically come up with “The Tomb of the Sea Witch” to be inserted between book 1 and “The Stroke of Eleven”? And what made you decide to do that?
