Hi Neil, Thanks for dropping off a copy of Ice Hunters for our street library. I'm just beginning to read it now. Thought it might be my only chance before it gets whisked away by a friendly neighbour...By the way, how many words are in this magnificent story? (Just wondering...) Best wishes, Pauline

Hi Pauline,
Not a problem. Thanks for being my first street library reader!
I have a few copies floating around the house and recently read about the street libraries, so thought I’d contribute a few copies. I’m only a suburb away from you, so you weren’t far :)
From memory.... 71,400 words or thereabouts.
I seem to be able to sell a few ebooks when I advertise (through Amazon) which is good... although most sales come from the States. I hadn’t thought of the marketing aspect, which for me is the most difficult part (being an introvert) .. so I’ve never had a book launch or detailed marketing strategy etc... and I’m not a member of ACT Writers or anything like that. Of course in hindsight, I should have addressed those sorts of things earlier...
The reviews on Amazon (US and Australian sites) are pretty good, but gee.. it’s difficult getting any reviews as a new author.
Having said all that, it was a great experience. I’d always wanted to try my hand at creative writing... so I ‘had a go’ so to speak.
Hope you enjoy the read Pauline and great work getting your street library working. I’m sure lots of people appreciate it!
Warm regards
Neil

Hi Neil, I'm a fellow Aussie crime writer, and delighted to see a new Aussie crime writer come on board this site. Goodreads is a wonderful platform to learn many things about other works and authors. Unfortunately, I think the site also very unwieldy, and difficult when attempting any promoting. Just messaging someone seems to be a dark art...Would like to exchange ideas etc. ?
