I agree with Ms Linda. Reading the books in order would be preferred. Each book draws back upon the previous book(s). Excellent series though. I would start back at the beginning and come up the series.

You should definitely read them in order. The storylines move through each book. The progression of Amos Decker's character would not work if you read them out of order.
