Bonnie Bennett
Bonnie Bennett asked Rachel Van Dyken:

How do you come up with your stories? And another thing, do you know from the start how everything is going to turn out? Or do you let the characters "tell you" what should happen as you write each book?

Rachel Van Dyken Most of my stories start with conversations I've had or just random ideas, even newspaper articles haha that probably sounds really strange. The mafia story came from a real life story about a mob boss who was in hiding in Idaho for over 20 years and had all this cash/weapons stashed in his house, my husband was like you HAVE to write a story about that. So I did. I don't plan at the beginning because I feel like when I plan what characters are going to do I take away free will, I never want to impose my own will on the characters. It's like pressing play on a movie, they let me watch and write down what happens but I have little control ;)
