Cassondra Windwalker I think in his more idealistic youth, Jeff would have been horrified and angered, but in his more cynical present, he's wryly delighted by how openly lies are embraced and renamed as truth. You can throw water on the fire, or you can fiddle as the world burns down, and Jeff is likely fiddling. His real concern, though, is with the people who don't even realize it's their own flesh that's ablaze. He's doing his best to sound the alarm.
