Omoye asked Amelia Hutchins:

Hi Amelia, At 64% in BHM, Lucian repeats a phrase that is a very strong echo from another series. He repeats a declaration that was iconic to book 5- Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning, when the elusive Barrons directly speaks his love for Mac on p 561, highlighted 981 times to date. “You exist in places..” coupled with “Do you understand me?” Is nearly verbatim to the Fever. Did you get inspiration from KMM?

Amelia Hutchins Plagiarism is when something is verbatim, meaning completely the same. It's like saying no one can say "You exist" and that is a little unrealistic as it is used in many books, some prior to Karen using it. In her book, it's his way of saying I love you, in mine, it's his way of saying what he is willing to do to keep her, and while it might be used in a similar fashion, it is a romance novel.
Mine: “Open your eyes,” he demanded. “You and me, we exist in a place that others don’t understand. You and me, we don’t live in their world. You exist in places of my mind that no one else has ever explored, or been allowed to see. Do you understand me?”

Karen's: "You're Mac," he says. And I'm Jericho. And nothing else matters. Never will. You exist in a place that is beyond all rules for me. So you understand that?"

Accusing someone of plagiarism is rather serious, and in romance, you will find similarities as so much has been redone or used, that if you go in looking for it, you will find it.
