(view spoiler)[I’ve heard the rumour of it being ~17th century but there seems to be no mention of muskets or anything. Also, about the war in the County, there were no successful invasions around that time of England. Could it be a reference to the English Civil War, and the enemy troops “vertical nose guards” refer to Roundhead helmets??

They aren't set in any historical period, I deliberately kept the books free of dates as I didn't want to be pinned down by history but for the purposes of film costuming I agreed 17th century (ish)..
The books are really set in Lancashire (I call it the County) so I am hinting at the English Civil War. But that is only feeling that I wish to place in readers' minds. This is not the historical England you read about in history books. It is an imaginary world, a fictional alternative reality.

Thank you! These books have quickly become my favourite book series. I’ve read that you plan to make some more spook books later on, but a few questions I have: will Tom and Alice be quite active in the book or will they be in the background? Will you ever do a series based on Alices POV? Will you (after the new main character’s book) continue with Toms POV and have him as the main character again?

Joseph, hello, I'm your big fan, I really liked the series of books about the witcher, but alas there was a misfortune, recently I learned about another book from the series that I missed, "Witcher's Secret." To my great regret, I can not find a printed copy of 2012 anywhere. I beg you, help me with this problem? You will make me the happiest person on earth.
