Like many here I devoured the first half of the book, but when it returns to NYC it (and I) hit a wall. Took me forever to finish and I stubbornly didn't want the book to beat me. And I agree with the other Cowling here (!) about the last philosophizing coda. The Secret History is still Tartt's masterpiece, imo.(less)
