Sunmade Ejiwunmi asked Laurence E. Dahners:

Hello Laurence, Can I ask if you read any creative writing books or went to any classes before you published your first book. Also what would be your advice to an aspiring author?

Laurence E. Dahners I've read parts of some books. The one I learned the most from was the "The Bestseller Code" by Archer and Junkers. It's a computerized analysis of the differences between successful and unsuccessful books. Most of the other writing books are just one person's opinion -- this one is actually data driven (I'm big on science).
For aspiring authors I'd just say to WRITE SOMETHING. Start with a short story (they don't sell, but they're good practice). Then give it a while and go back to read/rewrite it. If you send me a few pages (ldahners@gmail.com) I'll rewrite them the way I would have written them myself and make a few suggestions - which you may or may not find helpful.
