Gina asked Juliet Marillier:

Your books are some of my favourites due to the blend of folklore and mythology. I'm doing the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge 2019 and am hoping you could recommend some of your favourite folklore and mythology books to stretch my reading in that category? Thanks in advance.

Juliet Marillier Here are a few to start you off:

Seven Miles of Steel Thistles by Katherine Langrish. This is both a published book and a blog. Very entertaining as well as scholarly. (A recent publication, just google the title to find it)
Troublesome Things: A History of Fairies and Fairy Stories by Diane Purkiss (published by Penguin, 2001)
The Vanishing People: A Study of Traditional Fairy Beliefs by Katharine M. Briggs (Batsford 1978)
From the Beast to the Blonde: On Fairy Tales and their Tellers by Marina Warner (Vintage, 1995)
