This question contains spoilers…
(view spoiler)[I haven't been able to read any of the spellslinger books other than the first one and this question might be answered in a book but can kellen ever gain access to the rest of the magic forms or is counterbanding completely permanent? (hide spoiler)]
Sebastien de Castell
Alas, that's not a question answered in the first four books that are currently published. I would say, however, that for me, Kellen's story isn't about the would-be mage who wants magical powers and then gets them. I feel like there are hundreds of fantasy series that already do that. As a writer (and a reader), I'm a lot more interested in finding out what happens to the hero who doesn't get to rely on ever-increasing magical powers to solve their problems. So I guess what I'm saying is, whether or not the counter-banding remains permanent, what keeps me writing the books is discovering new ways for Kellen, Reichis, and Ferius to survive with cleverness, daring, and trickery rather than just spells. That said, there's plenty of spellcasting in the rest of the series, and remember that Jan'Tep bands aren't the only kind of magic out there.

Just finished Traitors Blade, and without waiting I plunged into Knights Shadow and i have the next two on deck waiting. Love the series so far. So, many have compared this series to the Three Musketeers. While they carry swords, and there are three that is where I see the comparison end. My Question (finally) is, What was the influence or inspiration for the series?
