Kathy asked Genevieve Cogman:

So...if the library collects unique books and half of the books published today in our world are ebooks, what happens when a librarian has to collect an ebook? Do they do a print on demand? Or does the ebook itself suffice? Are there vaults of computer drives in the bowels of the library somewhere?

Genevieve Cogman Librarians are expected to bring back a copy in physical format - whether this means printing it out, or copying it out by hand, or any other method, is up to them. Whatever ultimately makes the Library work seems to want something physical. (There has been speculation about why this is the case. Speculation is a wonderful thing.)

There are computer systems in the Library, and deep vaults of computer drives, and similar - however, whenever a Librarian crosses over to the Library (or from it), all active magic and electronic activity temporarily blinks off during the crossing. This is partly why active cyborging has never really been popular among Librarians.
