I gather you were listening to this on audiobook like I was. If so I think “Rita” is what it sounded like when the narrator actually said “reader“ with an Australian accent. Took me a bit to figure that out too!

yes, I agree on the audio, Reader does sound like Rita. Did anyone else think it was a little long? There were some details and conversations which seemed repetitive and didn't advance the story but I LOVED the line " She lost a husband and gained a wife." Well said! I liked the book but not as much as her prior works.

Hahaha, thank you to everyone who answered this. I, too, listened to the audiobook, and that last 60 seconds had me so confused! I was all “Wait, who’s getting married? And who the h*** is Rita?!?” 😂
Apparently that was just my “American” showing through. 😉 “Reader” makes more sense and is actually really cute. Enjoyed the book!

The end was ridiculously confusing and I didn't like the book to begin with.

Thanks for asking this! Was wondering the same thing. “reader” makes much more sense!
Rachel
who was 16 years old at the end of the book? quote "she waited until her 16th birthday" until she married him ...
Mindy
Why did every chair have a giant white bow at the back in the wedding at the end?
