I'm working my way through this book and thoroughly enjoying it. Does anyone have a suggestion for other books along these lines? I'm looking to follow up with a book about the Vietnam War or the Korean War, now that this book is giving me such a thorough and fascinating look at the pre-Vietnam War history of the area.

I've heard a lot of good things about Max Boot's The Road not Taken. It might be worth checking out.

Any of Bernard Fall's books are great reading, also I would recommend Danger Close by Phil Gioia about growing up in the Army and serving two tours in Vietnam, puts a human face on the war. Of course there is always The Quiet American
