This is driving me a bit crazy. The original edition published in England has a metafictional "interview" at the end of the novel: "Anthony Horowitz Interviews Alan Conway, Reprinted from the Spectator Magazine." There are a some contradictions within and I thought that might be one reason it's not included in the American release. Does anyone know the story?

Perhaps the reference is the reason why the entire interview was left out of the US version. (less)
