Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition

So, this is not a real band that I totally missed out on, growing up in the 1970's, is it??

Julie Day No, it's not a real band. When you read the book, though, you keep asking yourself if it's a real band because it all seems so real.
Toni Not a real band, but Daisy reminds me a little of Stevie Nicks.
Tracey This is how I felt about Evelyn Hugo
Karen No, not a real band, although it's very loosely based on Fleetwood Mac. The author recently gave an interview in which she says she was really fascinated by Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks in the 1990s. You can definitely see elements of that in this book (the love/hate relationships between members of the band; the gossip and rumors about them; a gorgeous female lead singer with a gravelly voice).
Julia and I already wondered why I couldn't find their music anywhere... now I feel stupid
cluedupreader ICYDK, there's a Daisy Jones & The Six 🎶 playlist of corresponding '70s songs.
Alicia IT FELT SO REAL!!! I head to search online just to make sure I hadn't missed something.
Kathy Not a real band, but loosely based on the real band, Fleetwood Mac. Two couples (Stevie Nicks/Lindsey Buckingham, Christine McVie/John McVie) in Fleetwood Mac were going through break-ups when they wrote and recorded Rumours (1976)... one of the best-selling albums of all time. Check out the album (it is one of my favorites) if you want to get a vibe for the Daisy Jones & The Six sound and the dynamic tension between Daisy and Billy.

Camisha Maze I totally started googling for their music when I was done lol
Jessika Cash The Author's Note at the very beginning is what made me think it was an actual band at first. But after a little googling, found out they weren't.
Amy I'm glad I'm not the only one who wasn't sure if they were a real band or not.
Cristina Not a real band but a lot of what happens in this book reminds me of Fleetwood Mac's history!
Marie Gallagher OMG I am part way through this book and have asked everyone I know if they've ever heard of this band! Duh! My plan was to google Daisy Jones (to find out more about her and see what she looks like today!). I had no idea this wasn't based on a real band until coming across this question quite accidentally!
Lee Ann I love that this is one of the top questions for this book, because "Is Evelyn Hugo a real actress" was one of the top questions for The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
Elizabeth Bennet It's partly inspired by Fleetwood Mac i think

Kathy Larocque No. But they're making it into a movie and they're using the song lyrics from the book. I'm pretty excited.
Gabika Pastorková I thought it too, when I started reading. I was like: Did I miss something? :D
Elizabeth Muscare No. Made up. But it definitely was true to the 70's bands.
Raven Black I read (someplace and can't find again) That it is VERY VERY loosely based on Fleetwood Mac. But no, not a real band. Shame. (Could be a great movie though as long as they don't go too "popular singer/actors")
Blair It's a Bridges of Madison County thing. They both say upfront that it is fiction but somehow that is overlooked. We want to believe in love, don't we.
Kenneth My answer is LMFAO!!!
Joan Westgate Terry, I'm almost finished with this amazing book. I grew up in the 1970s. This is a fictional band, comparing them to Fleetwood Mac, I would think!
Sue No, not a real band, but a very realistic portrayal of some of the big bands of the 70s, when it was all about drugs and rock and roll.
Carolina It's not a real band but I think it was highly influenced by Fleetwood Mac although it has nothing to do with this band.
