Not very, in my opinion. Yes, they are both about Norse gods and Ragnarok, but the similarities stop there. Now, I hated the Magnus Chase books because they did not portray the Norse gods well. Thor is noble, honest, and although a bit of an idiot, his prowess in battle cannot be matched by many. Thor is NOT a drunk, farting moron. Loki is much more like he is in the Marvel movies than in Magnus Chase. I could go on, but I digress. My point is that I'm biased. The Blackwell Pages Trilogy does a far better job of making the myths accurate, and make sense from a modern point of view. I thought series was funny when appropriate, and I was hooked from page one. I highly recommend it.
