Just finished and I can’t tell if the third and final book in the series will address these things, or if this is a plot hole (it can’t be…right?). Here are all my June/Angie notes from Vengeful - my assumption is that one of June’s sisters is Angie.( sorry if my page numbers don’t line up with whatever copy of the book you have…this book isn’t the easiest to navigate post read).

June’s “before” - she talks about this early on when she follows Victor and knocks on the door to Victors place and she’s answered by Sydney, who looks like MADELEINE. She mentions her siblings - one older and three younger, the youngest is madeleine with same strawberry curls (pg60). So Sydney looks like her youngest sister (who is not Angie!!), but maybe Angie is another one of the siblings? (older/younger IDK)

Pg329 - June follows victor home and he has an episode and his power knocks June over and “had she been anyone else the force would’ve killed her”. So whoever she was wearing right then dies and she transforms back into her real self - “familiar pale skin dotted with freckles”

June “wears” a distorted reflection of “the only girl victor ever loved” - “I picked her just for you - ” “it’s the best I can do since she’s the real one is dead” - dark blue eyes, strawberry curls, heart shaped faced (pg374). Ok this is weird because we know that June can’t know about Angie via touching Victor at their first encounter in the strip club (she explains that he’s an EO because she can’t feel anything - there’s no info for her to get on his past). So June knowing about Angie some other way is 1) intentional by VES or 2) not that deep and I’m overthinking this or 3) a huge plot hole (unlikely). She also acknowledges that she’s not wearing a true Angie - it’s her best attempt because, like she says to Victor, Angie is dead. So let’s all hold hands and agree that all of these “strawberry curls/blue eyes/pale/freckles” references ARE DEFINITELY RELATED TO ANGIE in some way.

June becomes herself “a spritely girl with strawberry curls and a splash of freckles across her high cheeks” (pg478 - last paragraph of book)

There has to be some way June is related to Angie and knows at least some of Victor’s backstory. I wonder if maybe June had some idea about what happened to her sister at college, but didn’t know what Angie’s killer (Victor) looked like, and then it clicked for June when she met him at the strip club and that’s why she followed him - then June sees Sydney (who reminds her of the youngest sister Madeleine) with Angie’s killer, and June makes it her mission to protect Sydney because she couldn’t protect Angie from Victor. Am I getting too deep here LOL. This make sense to me because it’s never really clear why June gets so attached to Sydney so quickly besides that she looks like her youngest sis, so this could be that rationale.

If this isn’t cleared up in the final book I might lose my mind. I’m confident it will be though because VES wouldn’t do us like that. (hide spoiler)]

Nina (the fussy reader) <spoiler> I think she's probably Angie. Remember how when June impersonated the mob boss and he shot her but ended up shooting himself? As soon as he died, she lost his aspect. June mentions a few times that when she looks through her 'wardrobe' of aspects, some are missing because they've died since the last time she wore them.

June can't take the aspect of a dead person, so how was she able to take on Angie's aspect in the bar and tease Victor with it?
And the strawberry curls reference is one that's only ever been used to describe Angie.

V.E. Schwab is too clever a writer for inconsistencies like these. They must be intentional. </spoiler>
