Wilson E. Stevens Sr. asked this question about Uncompromising Honor (Honor Harrington, #14):
The last two books by David Weber were terrible, in fact, I wasn't able to finish one it was so bad. I like the Honor Harrington series, and want to see some reviews before I waste any more money on a book by David Weber. His books use to be great and have gone downhill with his new writing style. I want a fun book to read, is this one?

That's to be expected, however, since not only has the series shifted over the years from space opera to space conspiracy, but the main character has reached the point that she's primarily a politician, and as a Fleet Admiral, she's generally going to be planning offensives, and only rarely leading them.

On the bright side, you don't need to worry about 200 pages copied from previous books, and there is neither the typical ten page history lesson nor the dreaded 20 page hyperspace physics dissertation, and unusually for a recent Weber book, there's not a single discussion of bullet weight vs propellant charge vs muzzle velocity vs impact energy.(less)
