Goodreads asked Nancy Guild-Bendall:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Nancy Guild-Bendall First of all, I don’t panic and I don’t try to force ideas, plot or inspiration. It depends what I’m writing, but if I’m in the middle of writing a book, I continue writing anyway and allow the words to flow through 'on their own'. If I’m trying for an idea for a book and one is not coming I let it go and wait for the day when the germ of an idea starts to germinate in one of my paintings. With this painting in mind, I write a first chapter. If I like it, I start fleshing out the possibilities in an outline.
