Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Andrew Simonet Wilder started out as a heroic story: troubled boy redeems himself, uses his violence for good. That was what the narrator was telling me and telling himself. Without giving too much away, that's not where it ended up. The process of writing Wilder mirrored Jason's experience: the stories we tell ourselves (especially we men) need checks and balances.

Andrew, may I ask if any real-life experiences inspired you in Wilder? Based on you in real life, I would guess no (I've never seen you ride a motorcycle.) Is the main character based on someone you know/knew?
