Goodreads asked Anitha Rathod:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Anitha Rathod Once I happened to see a post on facebook by a parent who said that her 4-year-old daughter saw princesses as a pretense. She wanted books that can give a different perspective to young kids, especially girls, where princesses are shown as strong and brave as others. If we dig deeper into history, its filled with many examples of princesses who lead their countries successfully. It is just a matter of bringing those examples to kids and make them see the real princesses who are not just pretty dolls but much more than that.

My recent book "The Messy Bun Princess" is an inspiration from real-life princesses in the history. I believe this book is perfect for all kids as it tries to break the irrational societal norms.

The illustrations are very rich that can keep the kids glued to the pictures. I hope the readers enjoy the book as much as I did while creating it. This happens to be my favorite creation so far.
