Justin asked Clare O'Beara:

Can you share any precepts/maxims that help you be the person you'd like to be?

Clare O'Beara Hi Justin, thanks for the question.
One of the best maxims I have is the Guide / Scout motto, Be Prepared. This applies to any walk of life whether to a college class or moving house, a blackout or accident.

As to guiding principles, I like Ghandi's words: Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Hippocrates said: Ars longa, Vita brevis. Art is long, life is short.
I have that, and Go For It, as constant prompts on my fridge.

I have quoted a book title recently, which was Nevertheless, She Persisted. Seemed apt at the time.
And I have recently pinned a maxim on my corkboard:
Goals should be SMART. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound.

I also try to live up to a folk saying in Ireland: An ounce of help is worth a pound of pity.
Thanks for asking!
