I know its a little late, but The Rain Wild Chronicles, which I have just started, takes place right after the Liveship Traders Trilogy. I think it will make the whole experience better to read the Liveship stuff first, just for the increasing sense of history, but everything seems to be explained so it might not be necessary.

The cool thing about Hobb's books is they are structured as stand-alone trilogies (exception: Rain Wild Chronicles and its quadrilogy) but if you decide to read them from the beginning and in order, a lot of nuances you would otherwise have missed come into focus.
