Ali Zakaria
I was sitting on my desk working on a case and suddenly, out of nowhere, I had this epiphanic moment when I asked myself what do I want out of this life? And I wanted the deepest answer this time, not a superficial one. Brian Tracy mentioned the 5 whys method so I decided to use it. Whichever answer that came up I asked myself why? So I started by I want to excel in my job why? To get more money why? To be happy then I asked what else? I said a good wife why? To share my life with someone why? To be happy. I realized that everything that I want in my life, I just wanted in order to be happy.
Applying the concept of begin with the end in mind I decided to study happiness and to be good at anything teach it so I decided to write this book. The self-doubt begin, who am I to write a book? I do not know how to write. I don’t know how to write a book. I have made a lot of research on writing until that one sentence that set me free “the best thing you can do to be a good writer is to write, write, write, and write”. I decided to start and to never think about the publishing, I gonna write for myself.
I made a promise to myself that every idea in this book should be genuine, tested, and practical. Before I wrote any idea I experiment it and searched for other people who have tested it.
When I Started the magic started a research led to a thought, a thought led to an interview, an interview led to a book, a book led to a video, a video led to an organization. I felt that the book is writing me, It became effortless and before I know it the book was finished.
After I finished the book I was happy with the information but not with the reading so I decided to send to other authors and beta readers all of them gave the same feedback “the information is awesome but where are the stories”. I did not want to make up stories I wanted them to be real stories so I interviewed people from more than 20 countries on how they define happiness and how did they found it then I integrated these interviews into the places they fit in the book.
It was a 4 years journey I have put my heart and soul into this book.
