Hi Clare. I am new to Goodreads. How can I get people to review my book?
Clare O'Beara
Hi Neil, thanks for the question.
I see you've been on GR since Oct 2016 but you have not claimed your author's page. That is the first step so go through the introductory screens until you find how (it will have changed since I did the trek), or go to a Group for authors under the Community tab and ask. Once you have claimed your page and book, I recommend adding books you have read to your shelf, and writing some reviews in any spare minute. Can't expect someone to review your book if you don't review works by others.
You can join Groups where members are willing to accept a copy of a book and review. I recommend you send PDF copies or else a free Amazon download day. The download day can be publicised in appropriate threads on appropriate groups, like a crime readers' group or a medieval history group. Do not come across as spamming.
Not everyone will love your work - accept that. Try to get a good fit for your book - warn about adult content, horror, sports enthusiasm needed or whatever. And if the reviewer doesn't post a review, it may be that they didn't get around to it, or didn't like it. Be patient.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for creating the Women During War list, and adding my novel Bird's Eye View, the only novel ever written in which a Canadian woman in uniform is the heroine. Now I'm going to check out the other books on the list as you have chosen some very interesting titles! How did you select them?
