In the original story the Sasanian king finds out his wife has been unfaithful and has her killed. I think this story’s upfront admission to a relationship with that folktale allows us to assume Habara shares a equally debilitating problem although it’s not entirely similar. He does little to keep his Sheherezade coming back but he cherishes her stories as a life source and his only viable view into the obscure, a world he wishes to penetrate more deeply.(less)
