Goodreads asked P.J. Friel:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

P.J. Friel My series is deeply rooted in Norse Mythology and I got my first taste of that in the 1982 movie Conan the Barbarian. One of the characters, Valeria, died and came back as a Valkyrie to save Conan's life. It was the tiniest sip of Norse Mythology, but it was enough to fuel my curiosity. After that, I delved into several different mythologies--Greek, Roman, and Celtic. But something about Valkyries has always called to me.

When I decided to write a Paranormal Romance series, it was to Norse Mythology that I turned. The stories are rich, but not so well known that they're confining. I feel that most readers will be coming into my world with fewer preconceived notions, which gives me a little breathing room to change things up. And those readers who are familiar with Norse mythology will, I hope, see that while I'm twisting things a bit, I'm still doing my best to stay true to the myths.
