Why is Erica's personality in the Spy School series always so cold and distant?Whenever Ben seems to be getting to know Erica better,she is described as not even glancing at Ben.Is it because she is embarrassed,or convinced that she should not let her emotions be involved in what she does?(Just curious:)

Stuart Gibbs Erica believes that all relationships are a liability, and so she puts up walls to prevent emotional connections. But Ben is wearing her down.
