Jeremy asked Mary Robinette Kowal:

I just finished "The Calculating Stars" and was blown away by how much I enjoyed this book. All the subtle details really made it feel like I was a part of that era. How much thought went into your word choice? For example; which news service called it a meteor or meteorite. Was that intentional American stubbornness? (They called it a meteor early on and decided to stick with it knowing it was wrong)

Mary Robinette Kowal Thank you! As I recall, I decided that the BBC would call it a meteorite but that once it was called The Meteor that this is the name that would stick.
