Hello Mr, Gortner, A recommendation led me to your books. Your description of a Spanish woman is on point. Which book do I read first??? My ancestors immigrated to the mainland from Toledo, Spain. Raised Catholic, I learned my roots are from within the walls of La Juderia. Toledo, is worthy of story to be told, with its rich history.

Hi Dianne,
All of my novels are stand-alones and can be read in whichever order a reader prefers. The only connected ones are THE LAST QUEEN and THE QUEEN'S VOW, the former being about Juana la Loca of Castile and the latter about her mother, Queen Isabella. Historically, THE QUEEN'S VOW precedes THE LAST QUEEN, but you can read either one first, as the books cover different times in Isabella's reign and feature different viewpoints, with Isabella telling her story in THE QUEEN'S VOW and Juana telling hers in THE LAST QUEEN.
I've been to Toledo several times. It's a very beautiful city.

The cover for Marlene is beautiful! And, the Amazon description is excellent! Based on those two factors alone, I'd say you have a winner. I'm extremely interested in how you approached your research. Would you please post a link here on any interviews where you include this aspect?

LOVE your books. I read The Last Queen when it first came out and have read everything since. You have mentioned that you might expand your book subjects more, except publishers prefer "marquee names" Yet, Michelle Moran wrote about India's Rebel Queen and Margaret George wrote about Nero. Do you think publishers are realizing that there is a greater market than the Tudor era? You have the following...

Finished Mademoiselle Chanel and now in the midst of reading Marlene. Both are marvelous books and I must say the plots are extremely well thought out. I love your style. I read somewhere that you would one day embark on an Egyptian themed novel. Have you ever had the chance or considered even to study Ancient Indian ( i mean pre-Mughal era) history or basing a story in that time period?
