Apart from Shakespeare, no poet has had greater cultural impact on English Literature than Milton, but I realised most students today simply don't have the cultural and literary foundations they need to enjoy him. My book tries hard to support students but equally encourages any reader to enjoy and delight in one of world literature's towering figures, through reading and understanding his single, greatest work.
