Goodreads asked Raymond Thorn:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Raymond Thorn Have thick skin, and be comfortable with loneliness and rejection. Boy, that sounds negative, but what I mean by that is that a lot of the process of writing-- particularly selling the things you've written-- can be something of a slog, and you have to be comfortable with that. Also, you have to be comfortable with people judging your writing. Sometimes it's quiet and subtle-- they read it and you never hear from them again-- and sometimes it's a tangible judgment, but either way you have to get comfortable with the idea of it.
