Goodreads asked Djahariah Mitra:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Djahariah Mitra I spent a year traveling and living in India. I studied and taught yoga. I struggled with so many aspects of my self and life choices I have made and pondered all the big questions. I wrote every day in my journal. I realized at some point that not only was I learning a huge amount culturally about India and about traveling alone as a woman, I also grew and changed and learned a huge amount about myself. I wanted to share the experience and how yogic philosophy framed how I saw things.

There aren't a lot of books out there that actually talk about the philosophy from the perspective of a non-master or guru - just a regular person trying to figure it all out. I wanted to share what yogic philosophy is without writing a philosophy book, to share a practical level - live it within the story of traveling and experiencing the ups and downs of life, and even falling in love.
