Can you tell me if the book is more sci-fi superpowers or magic mystical?

The second book was even better than the first. There's not as much action as the first, but there is a lot of psychological things that happen to Mara. It's insane. More mysteries are solved in the second book, but even more arise, so you are still left wanting more. The next book really ups the creepy. I remember being so scared I put the book down.
