Juliana Marquez asked this question about In Cold Blood:
Do you agree to Perry and Dick's death sentence? Throughout the whole book, Capote made me sympathize with Perry's situation (his childhood abuse and abandonment) to the point I thought, although he committed an atrocious crime, he perhaps deserved another sentence. However, also, I know that he deserved that punishment for what he did. Am I the only one that feels this way?
Delia Mccrary I agree, but also not. I think he deserved so much better than how his life went, but at the same time, he decided to kill the Clutter's. I think that…moreI agree, but also not. I think he deserved so much better than how his life went, but at the same time, he decided to kill the Clutter's. I think that's what Capote is trying to get at by putting Dick and Perry's pov's in the book. They both didnt have the best lives, but they are the ones that decided to commit murder. I think how Capote wrote the book, he wanted the reader to feel for Perry. That's just my opinion.(less)
