What was the most surprising thing you learned about the writing/publishing process while working on The Fever King?

Victoria Lee How much revision is involved, honestly. It's not that I didn't know it was gonna be a ton of work. But even with my measured expectations, I was surprised. The book is not recognizable compared to its first draft at this point. And trust me...that's a good thing.

As someone who grew up right outside Durham & spent a lot of time on Ninth Street, The Fever King has been a blast to read for that reason alone. (Though it's great for many other reasons too, obv!) Is the bookstore Noam grew up in supposed to be the Regulator? :)
