Just finished reading this book. A couple of questions: 1) Who shot Tolliver? 2) Where were her dogs during her attack? I know...they are just Greyhounds, but even a Yorkie would react to their owner being attacked! 3) Why did Lena not react differently when Jeb knocked on her back door? I realize she knew him, but why did she not think it odd for him to come over out of the blue, and then to her back door?

He was shot by Matt I believe, accidentally. Sara's dogs are famous for being lazy, and absolutely no response when anyone strange comes into her home. Since they knew Jeb, they would do nothing. Long time since I read that book, they may have been at her moms as she was back and forth at that time. Lena wouldn't think to question Jeb showing up I don't think, they knew him. Small town.

Jeb shot Tolliver because it Sarah said that he did it while she was working?

Tolliver was shot by his own colleague, Frank. He was going to attack Will Harris because he was sure he was the one who killed Sybyl.

I think Matt shot Tolliver. It's not stated explicitly but it is implied, especially since we don't see Matt after that.
