Before jumping into Age of War, I'm re-reading Age of Swords to make sure I have a fresh memory of what happened in the last book (not that I could forget the ending, I just about cried). But there is something I wanted to ask regarding Roan. She's the ex-slave of Iver. She's the only slave that is mentioned in the village. Were people just okay with Iver owning another person? How prevalent was slavery to the Rhunes?

Both Roan, her mother, and Malcolm were slaves (Roan and her mother of Iver, Malcolm of Shegon). So, yes, it existed. Now that said, it was a very "regional thing." The Gula-Rhunes tended to have more slaves than the Rhulyn-Rhunes. There may have been a few other slaves in Dahl Rhen but that was NOT a place where slavery was common.

Were they okay with it? I'm sure they would prefer that he didn't have a slave, but it wasn't illegal, and there would be no cause for them to change the situation. In other words "freeing" his slave would be taking away his property.

Again the level to which it was prevalent depended on the particular dahl/village in question.
