I've read almost every book you've released, except for Midsummer's Bottom, which is next on my list, and I love them all so much! I even named my english bulldog Grubbs because of The Demonata series. Thin Executioner is my favorite book of all time! I find it so easy to get attached to so many of your characters so I was wondering, do you ever find it difficult to give your characters their own unique personalities?

Darren Shan Not really. I never know much about the characters when I start writing. I'll usually have a vague idea of what they'll be like, but they only truly reveal themselves over the course of the writing process. It happens organically, without too much thought on my part.
