This is only 3% into the book I don't think it counts as a spoiler, but as I read past it, I can't get it out of my mind: Why don't Dan and Billy immediately connect - like on the same day? I imagine sometime later in the novel they will encounter each other, but It's counter to the both characters' established motivations for them not to email, phone, etc. each other asap.

Marcin Bill is more in it for the money, fame and publicity. Dan is "pure" believer and seeker of the truth. They don't have much in common.
