Esther Margolis asked Gail Anderson-Dargatz:

I work in a library, and saw your book From Scratch in a publisher's catalogue. I lam always on the lookout for books in simple language that will interest teens or young adults who are learning English. I'm wondering whether this book is suitable for young people from conservative religious homes, i.e. no explicit sex or offensive language? hope it's okay to ask you this.

Gail Anderson-Dargatz Hello Esther! Sorry for the delay in responding. Summer! :) I think From Scratch would be appropriate for more conservative audiences. But, of course, it's a short read, so perhaps taking a look to see if it fits your needs is a good idea. This particular book is from Orca's Rapid Read line, meant for adults who are working on their literacy, however. Orca publishers offers a range of books for young adults. I suggest checking out their Currents and Soundings series. And thanks for your work in helping teens to improve their literacy!
