Sometimes the best thing to do when I have writer's block is to step away. Staring at the same screen, with the same words, is not helpful. I might read or spend time with my family or even clean the house! Giving my brain a break from being creative is usually the best medicine. Other times, writing something completely different can help. A short story or maybe just an outline for a new idea can help me break the spell I sometimes feel under when I have writer's block! The key is remembering not to give up but to go back and keep writing, even if you have to scrap somethings.
