Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Richard Zaric I've always been interested in Winnipeg's rich history. Creating 'Hiding Scars' forced me to research the city's past where I uncovered a multitude of facts and snippets I was able to weave into the story. One thing I soon discovered was that the 'good old days' weren't very good. They were actually pretty bad. The divide between the haves and the have-nots was profound. I discovered the blatant discrimination that took place at the time. (Much worse by today's standards). Women were pushed aside. The government was corrupt. For the poor, living conditions were squalid.

In addition to the social situation, major events occurred during the time period (1913-1919) including the First World War, the influenza epidemic, prohibition and the Winnipeg general Strike. This story wrote itself.
